We used to sing about Trying to leave town Fleeing was the only Option we knew of More reasons to run Less time to bide Hide and seek with Only one closet Ain't no shame In seeking survival But days like these We need something more We're on our last legs Unused to marathon Pursued by iron men From dusk till dawn We've got nothing left to lose So why can't we win The struggle goes on and on So let's contribute to the din Pushed to the edge By chameleon intent Designed to divide Rather be the martyr Than the one left behind This could be the turning point No longer shouting into the void We've reached the finish line Ocean at our backs Tidal wave or a revolution Impossible to keep track No more running Just to save face Keep moving forward But now we set the pace We used to sing about Trying to leave town But now we are ready To stand our ground So fuck leaving Sow what they're reaping This could be the turning point

about

There is much to say about the currents we ride
Would you die by the scripture if it asked with a grin?
Hold it to your heart
Ask how it would care for you
And it will tell you how to profane your way to the surface
Where you can drink your first breaths of a better world.
Might I suggest, however, that we bathe in the conflict instead
That these waters might froth and churn just a little bit less?
What would happen if calmer waters prevailed?
